As amateur figure skaters, St. Louisan Lea Ann Miller and her partner, Bill Fauver, represented the U.S. in both the Olympics and World Championships and were three-time National Silver Medalists. Since turning professional in 1985, Lea Ann and Bill have been dazzling audiences all over the world. They were the featured pair soloists with the "John Curry Company" and also starred in the "Torvill & Dean World Tour", which toured throughout Europe and Australia, and included a special performance for Princess Diana and First Lady, Nancy Reagan. Miller and Fauver were feature performers in " Stars on Ice" from 1987 through 1992. Combining their love of classical music and dance with their bold and daring style of skating, Miller and Fauver will always be remembered as one of the most sophisticated acts in professional skating. Although they have retired from full-time touring, Miller remains active in the sport she loves.
Miller’s extensive dance background, along with her considerable amateur and professional experience, helped make the move to choreography a natural one. She has choreographed for many amateur and professional skaters including 2002 World Pair Champions Xue Shen & Hongbo Zhao, Yuka Sato, Tara Lipinski, Katarina Witt, Brian Boitano and Rosalynn Sumners. She has worked with acclaimed dance master Lar Lubovitch on a theatrical skating project for television.
Miller spent several years as the associate director/choreographer of the renowned Stars on Ice tour starring Olympic and World medalists such as Scott Hamilton and Kristi Yamaguchi. Additionally, Miller choreographed and directed the prime time NBC special, “Allstate Presents the All-Star Olympic Salute” starring Scott Hamilton, Ekaterina Gordeeva, and Tara Lipinski.
Miller has also created and directed numerous national and internationally televised skating shows such as Kurt Browning’s Gotta Dance, Katarina Witt’s Divas on Ice, Tara Lipinski’s Hip Hop on Ice and Brian Boitano’s Holiday Spectacular, Kristi Yamaguchi’s Salute to American Music and 20th Anniversary 1980 Olympics, Lake Placid, 9/11 Memorial Fund Show at Madison Square Garden (ABC).
Miller has also been an associate producer on the CBS Albertvill and Nagano Olympics. Miller has been given an industry honor of being one of the most influential people in the skating industry by International Figure Skating Magazine.
Off the ice, Miller enjoys spending time with her husband between their residences in Connecticut and the Berkshires. |
